Usually I like reading excerpt/1st chapter just to see if I'll get bored by certain writing style. I can't stand long narratives with flowery adjectives xD

You should read the book hun. For this one, I agree with you, watch first then read the book. Or else, you'll get a disappointment :) I found the movie was too short, and I want more details. It's a sad story and I just love Kathy and Tommy's chemistry...
